YOUR COACHES
Led by Coach Maddy & Coach Molly
Exciting news, Cambridge! Empower Futbol is proud to announce the launch of our newest satellite location — led by two incredible coaches who are ready to make a lasting impact on the next generation of players.
Coach Maddy McLennan brings years of experience to the pitch and is currently completing her CONCACAF Children’s License. A former University of Guelph varsity player, Maddy is also a dedicated academic, beginning her PhD in Veterinary Studies this fall — a true role model for young athletes who shows what it means to chase excellence both on and off the field.
Joining her is Coach Molly Owen — a proud Cambridge homegrown talent who just completed her first year playing at Carleton University and is a standout player for Cambridge’s League1 Women’s Team. Molly brings a contagious energy and deep passion for the game, making her a powerful influence for girls coming up through the region.
Together, Maddy and Molly are set to deliver the Empower FC Academy experience in Cambridge: a player-first, holistic environment that builds confident, creative, and capable young athletes. We’re thrilled to support the girls of Cambridge, Waterloo, Kitchener, Guelph, and beyond with an all-female staff and a powerful vision for development.

Empower Philosophy & Program Benefits
Q: What makes Empower different from other soccer programs?
A: Empower is built around development-focused, high-quality coaching with a strong emphasis on player mentorship, character-building, and community. Every session is designed to help athletes grow technically and holistically.
Q: What kind of coaches run the sessions?
A: All coaches are either the Satellite Lead or hand-selected Empower staff trained in our coaching methodology. Coaches are educated, experienced, and deeply committed to youth development.
Q: Will my child be challenged enough in a small group format?
A: Yes. The smaller format ensures more touches on the ball, direct coaching feedback, and customized activities to challenge each athlete at their level.
Girls in Soccer
Q: Is this program a safe and supportive environment for girls?
A: Absolutely. Empower was founded on creating spaces where girls feel seen, celebrated, and supported. Girls will be coached by mentors and leaders who understand their journey in the game.
Q: Will there be female coaches?
A: Yes. Empower proudly includes qualified female coaches and mentors, and all staff are trained to be intentional in supporting girls in sport.
Q: My daughter is new to soccer—will she feel out of place?
A: Not at all. Whether your daughter is brand new or more experienced, we create welcoming spaces that prioritize confidence, learning, and inclusion.
Q: Will she be grouped with other girls?
A: If requested, yes. We are happy to place your daughter in an all-girls group or mixed-gender group, depending on your preference and the availability of players.
